In 1960, Ray Peterson hit number 7 on Billboard Magazine with "Tell Laura I Love Her."
In 1976 Hall & Oates broke into the top 10 with "Sarah Smile" and "She's Gone" which were preludes to their 1977 blockbuster number 1 hit "Rich Girl."
Dion spent 6 weeks at the top of the 77 WABC chart with "Runaround Sue" back in 1961.
Actually recorded first by The Strangeloves (I Want Candy), The McCoys had a number 1 hit in1965 with "Hang on Sloopy."
Tony Burrows teamed up with Ron Dante for the one hit wonder group, Edison Lighthouse, who broke into the top 10 in 1970 with Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes). Burrows was also the lead singer for White Plains, a group that had a top 10 hit with "My Baby Loves Love." Ron Dante was the lead singer for The Archies and The Cufflinks.
"Hello Mary Lou" was half of a two-sided number 1 record for Rick Nelson in 1961. "Hello Mary Lou" was the flipside to "Travelin' Man."
1967 saw The Four Seasons break into the top 40 once again with the up-tempo sound of "C'Mon Marianne."
Also in 1967, The Seekers had a top 10 hit with "Georgie Girl." "Georgie Girl" was the theme song of the movie named, oddly enough, "Georgie Girl."
Neil Sedaka had a top 10 hit in 1959 with a song he wrote to Carole King titled, "Oh Carole."
A double sided top 10 for Elvis in 1961 was "Little Sister/Marie's the Name (of his latest flame)."
"Michelle, ma belle, these are words that go together well." "Michelle" was from The Beatles "Rubber Soul" album which was released in late 1965. "Michelle" received a considerable amount of airplay as an album cut, but was never a top 40 song.
A Dutch quintet known as "The Tee Set" hit the top 10 in 1969 with "Ma Belle Amie." The Tee Set is still active today.
Ray Hilderbrand and Jill Jackson became Paul & Paula to conform with lyrics of "Hey Paula." "Hey Paula" topped the charts on many radio stations across the U.S. and was Billboard's number 4 song of the year, 1963.
In one of the few songs where Al Jardine sang the lead, The Beach Boys went to the top of the charts with "Help Me, Rhonda" in 1965.
After visiting the top 10 in 1963 with "Linda" and "Surf City," Jan & Dean broke back into the top 40 with the queen of the surfer girls, "Honolulu Lulu."
From his 1969 album release "Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show," Neil Diamond peaked at number 4 in the U.S. with "Sweet Caroline."
Tommy Roe blasted into the top 10 in 1966 with a "girl who was outa sight" and "her friends just called her Sweet Pea." I wonder how he spotted her in the first place.
You won't hear too much about John Fred & The Playboy Band these days, but they were the artists behind 1968's number 12 song of the year, "Judy in Disguise."
From his "Hurdy Gurdy Man" album, Donovan revisited the top 40 in 1968 with "Jennifer Juniper."
"The movie's over it's four o' clock and we're in trouble deep," proclaimed The Everly Brothers in their 1957 number 1 song, "Wake Up Little Susie."
